Barista thoughts of the day: Leadership is not for everyone.

Another of my Instagram short post series converted into a full length article, today I like to cover a little about leadership in coffee.

Leadership is not for everyone. Managing people is not for the faint hearted. Designing process and directing your team to follow it can be challenging at times.

Negotiations skills are put to a test. Your patience becomes your only weapon, provided you have it in the first place. You need to have wit, you need to have grit, you cannot be weak, you need to hold a grip.

When the tough get going, the going get tough. Education did not prepare us for this, National Service does it only for a good few months. Working world serves this to you as a cold, hard dish but only when you are a leader. The non-leaders, the followers, the job-seeker (not the career man or woman) will just follow old age working rule, stay  blur, live (work) longer.

I envy moments like this at time. Away from the world problems and stay focused in churning delicious stuffs. Work with the hands, be a good maker. Then again, success and progress comes to you when you build. Build people, build legacy, build growth. Be a Maker, Be a Builder, Be a Leader or Be a Follower is a choice we make today.

What are you and what do you want to become?
