Plans & Goals.

100% muscle works today, picking and packing the greens for a twenty batch roast work Monday, prepping the mise en place (the roast log, the green/roast inventory log, the QC samples containers etc) and making sure everything is ready and in place.

Being a good barista gets you ready to one day be a darn good roaster. The fundamentals are the same. The discipline, the clean as you go, the 'think on your two feet', the preparatory work, the understanding of managing par level, the FIFO. Most importantly you believe in having a plan to survive because when you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Like my recent post on Instagram about Plans & Goals, a plan brings you closer to a goal and a plan can fail but your goals must remain. Just like my plan to judge in next week WBC in Boston. Already booked a place with @wcoffeeevents and was just a purchase of a plane ticket away but our dear Nazrul became a father again and by managing father duties (and yes it is the most important period for every newborn and the mummy to have their Hero beside them), I have to stay back and ensure delicious coffees are being roasted so operations is not jeopardise. 5 years in Dutch Colony made me realised that aside from my business partner Meidia Tamboto(who if have clocked enough mileage would probably jump in to roast), the only person that I have really trained to manage a production roast and been clocking all the mileage the past years is only Nazrul. *Note to myself: Probably I have to employ/train another out and out coffee roaster*

There is a change of plan but it is not the end of the world. Judging in the World's is every WBC judge dreams but roasting delicious coffees and ensuring our supply chain doesn't stop is also our responsibility that we owe to our internal and external customers. They all lead to one big hairy goal - To be the best and give the best coffee experience to one and all.

Note: This is my plan to bring short IG random posting and turn them into blog article, like this first conversion.
